We would like to invite the members of our community to apply to be a panelist at Envisioning the Future Academy: A HuMetricsHSS Community Convocation. This is a virtual event, to be held in two sessions on May 9th and 10th, 2024, from 2PM to 5PM EST both days.
The event is designed to bring together scholars, administrators, and activists at the forefront of creating a more supportive, equitable, just, and otherwise values-driven academy. Institutional transformation can be a slow, difficult, and isolating process, especially when working against deeply entrenched norms of competition, privilege, exclusion, and white supremacy. This convocation aims to combat that isolation by highlighting the continuing progress being made across all types of institutions of higher education and by envisioning, together, what the next steps in this work will look like.
If you are someone engaged in transformative work at your institution, we’d love to have you apply. Examples of transformative, values-engaged work might include recognizing community-engaged work, rethinking promotion and tenure to broaden definitions of scholarship, creating open infrastructure for collaboration, or rewarding open science and open scholarship. In appreciation of your time, we will be offering honoraria for panelists at this event.
